Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a flat roof normally last?
It depends on the material. Felt roofs can last 10 to 15 years, while GRP fibreglass and EPDM rubber systems often last over 20 years with proper care.
Will a flat roof cause drainage problems or pooling?
Not if it’s installed properly. We build in the right fall (angle) and drainage points to prevent water from sitting on the surface.
Can you install insulation with a new flat roof?
Yes, we can add insulation during the install to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Just let us know and we’ll include it in your quote.
What’s the difference between felt, GRP, and rubber roofing?
Felt is the most cost-effective, GRP is great for durability and looks, and EPDM rubber is flexible, long-lasting, and low-maintenance. We’ll help you choose the right one.
Will you remove the old roof before installing a new one?
If the existing roof is too damaged to repair or overlay, we’ll fully strip and replace it. We’ll advise you after the site visit.
Do you offer flat roof repairs, or just full replacements?
Yes, we do both. If your flat roof just needs a patch repair or resealing, we’ll sort it without pushing for a full replacement.
Can flat roofs be used for balconies or roof terraces?
In many cases, yes. We’ll need to check the structure and waterproofing needs, but we’ve installed flat roofs that double as usable outdoor space before.
